Hackers are demanding $50m from electronics chain Mediamarkt, RTL Nieuws reported on Tuesday.

All European outlets of Mediamarkt were hit by a cyber attack on Monday, which partly disabled the computer system, not allowing clients to make returns or pick up new orders.

RTL said the attack was the work of criminal hacking group Hive, which has been active against companies and organisations since June and demands ransom in bitcoin.

Mediamarkt is a German company with over 1,000 outlets in Europe, including 50 in the Netherlands.
