At least 13 homes were evacuated and five cars damaged after an explosion outside a halal butchers shop and greengrocers in Den Bosch in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The explosion, which damaged the shop door and a bus shelter as well, happened at around 2am. Police who went to investigate found a second explosive which had not gone off. It was taken away and detonated by police explosives experts.

The occupants of 13 houses were evacuated for a time, but allowed to return home around 6.30am.

Police have not yet commented on a possible motive for the attack.
