Amsterdam-based meal delivery service Just Eat Takeaway has finalised its acquisition of GrubHub in the US, which was first agreed a year ago.

Almost 100% of GrubHub shareholders voted in favour of the deal – valued at some €7.3bn – on Thursday. The takeover means Just Eat Takeaway is now one of the world’s largest meal delivery firms with gross turnover of almost €14bn.

The deal is the fifth by the company in three years. GrubHub works with some 300,000 restaurants, most of which are located in the US.

A spokesman for Just Eat Takeaway described the takeover as an ‘important milestone’ in the company’s strategy.
