Public broadcaster VPRO’s children’s programme De regels van Floor (Floor Rules) has won the prestigious International Emmy Kids Award in the category best series.

The NL Film and VPRO co-production is based on the books by Marjon Hoffman about a young girl who decides that, like the adults around her, she is entitled to make up her own rules. Floor is grappling with such teenage issues as whether or not to keep seeing ex boyfriends, moving house when you don’t want to and the pitfalls of vlogging.

‘It’s a great honour to win an award like this. It proves that a typically Dutch character like Floor can travel. The humour of Marjon Hoffman and director Maurice Trouwborst is universal,’ NL Film producer Kaja Wolffers said.

Bobbie Mulder, who plays Floor said ‘being nominated was cool but winning it is super vet! (super cool).’ The programme is now in its third series.
