While King’s Day will sunny and warm – and possibly the warmest on record – the weather is set to shift on Tuesday when rain moves in from the south west.

Tuesday will start out dry and there will be some sunshine in the north, but by afternoon there will be occasional showers in most places. It will warmest – around 20 Celsius – in the far south, but no higher than 13 degrees on the Wadden islands.

The rest of the week will be similar, with some sunny spells and showers at times, and temperatures in the mid teens.

The KNMI weather bureau says there will be more of the same well into May, although it is likely to become warmer as the month progresses.
