Traffic jam numbers fall

The number of traffic jams fell 8% last year compared with 2012, mainly due to new lanes, RTL news reports on Tuesday.

However, the reduction which began in 2010 came to a halt last October when the maximum capacity of the new lanes was reached.

In addition, people are using their cars more, according to figures from transport authority Rijkswaterstaat.

Last year, the ‘trustworthiness of the travel time’ was 94%. This means 94% of journeys during rush hour reached their destination at the expected time.

Top of Rijkwaterstaat’s top ten traffic jam hot spots is the A20 between Crooswijk and Terbregseplein.
