Collective pay deals averaged 1.4% last year

In total, 462 pay and conditions agreements were signed by unions and employers last year, according to employers’ organisation AWVN on Wednesday.

In 13% of the deals – covering 500,000 workers – unions and employers agreed to a pay freeze, the AWVN says. Most of those deals related to the business or financial services sector and healthcare.

The average pay rise agreed was 1.4%. The AWVN expects a similar average increase in 2014.
