Amsterdam alderman sworn in as junior finance minister
As widely expected, Amsterdam transport alderman Eric Wiebes has been sworn in as the new junior finance minister.
Wiebes replaces Frans Weekers who resigned last week because of serious failings in tax office benefit payments. The junior finance minister’s job focuses on tax issues.
It is not clear who is replacing Wiebes in Amsterdam. The local election takes place in six weeks’ time.
