A Rabobank worker in Beverwijk has been sacked on suspicion of embezzling several million euros using his ‘specialist knowledge of the bank’s procedures and systems’.

The man is now under investigation by police and the cooperative bank has declined to comment further on the case. The fraud was uncovered at the end of August.

Client accounts are not thought to have been affected.
