More companies gear up for exports

The number of Dutch firms exporting goods or services abroad reached 126,000 last year, up 10,000 on 2011, according to new figures from the national statistics office CBS.

It is the third year in a row the number of exporting firms has gone up, the CBS said. Exports are a main motor of the Dutch economy.

‘If the Netherlands wants to grow, exports have to increase,’ CBS chief economist Peter Hein van Mulligen told website nu.nl.
