Shell heads Fortune 500 list

British-Dutch oil company Shell has the biggest turnover in the world, business magazine Fortune said on Tuesday.

Shell heads its Fortune 500 list with turnover of $481.7bn in 2013, ahead of US retail chain Wal-Mart on $469.2bn and US oil company ExxonMobil on $449.9bn.

However, ExxonMobil was the most profitable global company with profit of $44.9bn in 2013. Second was Apple, followed by Russian state-owned gas company Gazprom, Fortune said.
