Rush-hour crash closes Rotterdam’s A20, elsewhere few problems

The A20 round Rotterdam was closed in both directions at the Terbregseplein junction on Monday morning following a serious accident involving a car and a lorry in which at least one person died.

Police said it is not yet sure if slippery conditions were to blame for the crash. The motorway will remain closed for some time while debris is cleared up, officials said.
Elsewhere sleet and frost have caused few problems on the roads. Motoring organisations had warned of slippery conditions in the east of the country, particularly on local roads.
Dutch Rail has also reduced services between Utrecht and Rotterdam, between Dordrecht and The Hague and between Rotterdam and Vlaardingen to head off any potential problems caused by the weather.
