Two more teenagers jailed for Facebook murder

A 16-year-old girl and her 18-year-old boyfriend have been given two years in youth custody followed by three years in a psychiatric clinic (one suspended) for their role in the murder of another teenager after a dispute on Facebook.

Polly W from Arnhem and Wesley C from Rotterdam were found guilty by a juvenile court of encouraging a second youth to carry out the murder.
The public prosecution department had called for the two to be tried under adult law but the court ruled their best interests would be served by a juvenile prison and psychiatric care.
Murder
In September a 15-year-old boy was given the maximum one-year sentence for a juvenile for murdering 15-year-old Winsie Hau after she and Polly had a long-running argument on Facebook.
Jinhau K, who was said by the court to have ‘a serious behavioural disorder with psychopathic traits’, was found guilty of stabbing Joyce ‘Winsie’ Hau to death in the hall of her family home in Arnhem in January.
K was 14 when he killed Winsie at the instigation of Polly W and Wesley C. K, who denied in court being paid to kill Winsie, claims to have been put under heavy pressure to carry out the killing.
Shocked
The court on Monday said it was shocked the friendship between the two girls could have turned to hate, with such disastrous consequences for the girls and their families.
Polly W and Wesley C used Facebook to put pressure on Jinhua, who looked up to Wesley, the court was told.
