Queen Beatrix enters sustainability ranking for Christmas speech

Queen Beatrix is one of the most influential Dutch people in terms of improving sustainability, according to the annual ranking compiled by Trouw.

The queen enters the ranking in 59th place following her Christmas speech in which she spoke of the need for a sustainable lifestyle. The queen was rated highly for her contacts, her charisma and broad vision, Trouw said.
Marjan Minnesma, director of campaign group Urgenda, tops the list for the second year. Minnesma is praised for her determination and innovation. Paul Polman chief executive of food-to-detergents group Unilever is second on the list.
Vision
There are just six politicians in the top 100, which is compiled by a jury of 14 experts and looks at determination, charisma, contacts, expertise and vision.
Queen Beatrix is not the only royal in the list. Prince Carlos de Bourbon de Parme, son of Beatrix’ sister Irene, is 95th. He has a foundation to encourage green energy use and told Trouw ‘sustainability is a lifestyle’.
Beatrix’ oldest son Willem-Alexander is in 97th place.
