‘1,300 jobs under threat at KLM’

Airline KLM may reduce its workforce by at least 1,300 people in an effort to cut costs, the Telegraaf reports on Wednesday.

The paper says unions and management have been in talks on a new collective pay deal for some time and the talks were broken off on Tuesday. At that point unions went public with the number of threatened redundancies.
A spokesman for the airline refused to confirm or deny the reports, the paper said.
Parent company Air France-KLM said on Wednesday it had booked net profit of €306m in the third quarter of this year, compared with just €14m in the year-earlier period.
The increase is largely due to higher passenger numbers, the airline group said.
