US health inspectors fail Holland America line cruise ship

Health inspectors in America have failed a cruise ship owned by the Holland America line for ‘multiple sanitation violations’, CNN reports.

During a surprise visit in August, inspectors listed a host of problems on board the MS Veendam, including ‘brown liquid dripping on clean dishes’, refrigerators that were out of order and water from a broken ice machine leaking onto the pool deck.
The MS Veendam is 16 years old and carries 1,930 passengers and crew. The company was founded 140 years ago in Rotterdam but is now based in the US.
