Public broadcasters generate €226m in ads

The public broadcasting sector’s advertising body Ster generated €226m from selling advertising on the three public channels last year, news agency ANP reports.

The money goes into the culture and education ministry budget and is used for financing the public broadcasting companies as well as orchestras, choirs and the viewing figures institute.
‘2008 was an exceptional year,’ Ster said in a statement. In particular, the summer’s sporting calendar boosted advertising.
