A majority of members of the FNV trade union federation have backed the recession-busting plan worked out by unions, employers and ministers, the Volkskrant reports on Thursday.

The union has 1.4 million members and is the biggest in the country. Nine out of 10 members voted in favour of the agreement. In total 230,000 had their say.
The deal includes a commitment to wage moderation, part-time unemployment benefit, extra attention to youth unemployment and moves to give pension funds more time to bolster their assets.
The FNV does not support plans to increase the pension age from 65 to 67.
