Three arrested over New Year rail death

Three men have been arrested in connection with a dispute at Rotterdam’s Alexander station on January 1, which led to the death of a19-year-old youth, the public prosecution department said on Thursday.

The three, aged 18, 22 and 23, will appear in court on Friday charged with involuntary manslaughter. The youth died when he was hit by an intercity train. His friend was very seriously injured.
Although the police said earlier that the death appeared to be a tragic accident, the department said the evidence now shows the three can be held responsible for events leading up to the death.
