Libertas, a pan-European political party which is contesting the European parliamentary elections for the first time, has chosen journalist and political scientist Eline van den Broek to head its Dutch campaign.

Van den Broek (28) was closely involved in the campaign to reject the European consititution in 2005. According to news agency ANP, she runs her own advice bureau focusing on the healthcare sector and works for conservative US think-tanks such as the American Enterprise Institute.
In The Hague for the launch of the Dutch campaign, Libertas founder Declan Ganley said the party was not eurosceptic but euro-optimist. ‘We believe in democracy and we want to be a breath of fresh air in Brussels,’ the Irish businessman said.
The elections take place in the Netherlands on June 4.
