‘Import brides’ act as unpaid carers

There must be an end to ‘the unbridled import of brides’ to act as unpaid carers, Amsterdam city council executive Lodewijk Asscher says in an article in Tuesday’s Volkskrant.

Asscher is in charge of education, integration and youth affairs.
‘Many of the problems associated with youths of below average intelligence are solved by importing brides,’ Asscher writes. ‘They are brought to the Netherlands as carers and wives… these women are given a life sentence thanks to these marriages, which also often produce children of below average intelligence.’
Asscher also wants an end to nephew-niece marriages, which are common in immigrant communities.
