Dutch more positive about immigrants

Some 35% of the Dutch think the Netherlands would be a better place if there were fewer immigrants, compared with 41% at the end of last year.

The figures come from the latest quarterly report on social attitudes from the government’s social policy unit SCP.
And while last year 36% of the SCP panel thought the arrival of more nationalities was a good thing, that percentage has now risen to 44%.
Among the other findings: 52% now think membership of the EU is a good thing, compared with 44% a year ago. But there are still more people opposed to the euro than for it – 39% compared with 35%.
