Unions claim 1,000 jobs to go at Kroymans

Kroymans, one of of the biggest car import groups in the country, is poised to sack 1,000 staff, unions claim in Tuesday’s Volkskrant.

Kroymans has been under court protection from creditors since last week. The company is said to have debts of €1bn, having grown massively over the past few years on borrowed money, the Volkskrant says.
The family firm is the Dutch importer of Saab, Alfa Romea, Aston Martin, Kia, Hummer, Jaguar, Cadillac and Corvette. It also has its own dealer and repair shop network. In 2008, Kroymans turned over €2bn, with a workforce of 4,000.
The paper says the receivers are set to discuss the redundancy plans on Tuesday.
