Healthcare subsidy cuts on cards

Cuts in the extra healthcare subsidies paid to low income households are likely as one of the ways of reducing the health ministry´s overspend, the AD reports on Friday.


In total, cuts of €3bn need to be made in health service spending, the paper says. Hospitals may also get less cash and be encouraged to compete against each other for patients, the paper says.
