Green bank boosts earnings, clients

Triodos Bank booked net profit of €10m last year, a 13% increase on 2007, news agency ANP reports. The number of customers using the green bank’s services rose 25% to 191,000.

‘We are withstanding the financial crisis well. Even more, we are growing more quickly than expected,’ director Peter Blom was reported as saying by ANP.
Triodos, launched in 1980, is active in the Netherlands, Belgium, Britain and Spain.
The value of Triodos’s investments fell by 6% to €1.2bn, largely due to the fall in value of stock exchange-listed companies. But considering worldwide events, Triodos is ‘extremely pleased’ with its results, Blom said. The bank expects further growth in 2009.
