Dutch farms free of foot-and-mouth

None of the 150 Dutch farms investigated for foot-and-mouth disease earlier this week have any trace of the infection, the agriculture ministry announced on Friday.

The ministry said it will relax the transport ban on live animals introduced last weekend following news that an outbreak of the disease in Britain.
Cows and pigs in the Netherlands can now be moved but the transport ban remains for sheep and goats because it is harder to trace the disease in these animals, said the ministry.
