Retail sector earnings rose in May

Higher prices boosted retail sector earnings 1.9% in May on flat volumes, the national statistics office CBS said on Thursday. Non-food prices in the same month rose 2%.


Shops selling consumer electronics performed particular well, with turnover up 6.5%. Clothing stores saw sales decline, as people bought summer clothes in the early spring because of the warm weather, said the CBS.
