The justice ministry has decided not to begin a criminal case against ministers responsible for the security of Pim Fortuyn, the public prosecution department said on Wednesday.

Fortuyn’s brother Marten made a formal complaint against two former ministers last month, alleging they failed in their duty to protect Pim Fortuyn during the 2002 election campaign. Fortuyn was murdered outside a radio studio in Hilversum just days before the vote.
