Unions up 2007 wage demand

As expected the trade union federation FNV has increased its wage demand for next year by 0.5% to 3%. The rise is ‘partly rational and partly emotional,’ says the FNV’s Wilna Wind in the Volkskrant.

She said members have called for a higher wage rise following repeated claims by politicians that the country is doing well economically while workers themselves do not feel the benefits in their pockets.
The other major trade union group, CNV, called for a 2.5% wage demand in September but members will make the final decision on December 8.
