Detectives in Amsterdam and The Hague have arrested five men and one woman after a year-long anti-terrorist investigation. The six are suspected of recruiting radical Muslims for a Holy War.

Those arrested include one Turk, one Tunisian, two Moroccans and two Dutch nationals. Radio station NOS reported that the Turkish suspect had previously faced terrorism charges in the Netherlands but had been found not guilty.
Detectives are investigating whether the six had also formed a terrorist network. A number of them are believed to have had – or been in the process of acquiring – forged travel documents for Iraq.
NOS reported that anti-terrorism police had been investigating the six since last November. The tip-off came when three men from The Hague were arrested in Azerbaijan by Baku police. The security service suspects the three had been in contact with a group of radical Muslims and been recruited to take part in a Jihad. They were returned to the Netherlands a month later with a Dutch police escort.
News of the arrests came a day after the Public Prosecution Department demanded jail sentences of up to 15 years for six other alleged terrorists in what has become known as the Piranha trial. Earlier this year, a number of other young men were sentenced to jail for planning terrorist attacks and for membership of what police have dubbed the Hofstad terrorist group.
