Mortgage tax relief out of favour

Some 80% of the 170,000 people who took part in the 21minuten internet poll back scrapping mortgage tax relief for new mortgages, the Volkskrant reports this morning. The poll has been running for six weeks.

Other preliminary findings from the report, carried out by McKinsey & Company, show that a slight majority are in favour of making it easier for companies to fire staff, and most would prefer to work longer hours to keep state pensions affordable.
Just under 50% of those taking part in the poll said they did not know who to vote for in the general election.
The results will be presented later this morning.
